The parable of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19 mirrors the journey of life.
It is marked by distinct seasons. Leprosy symbolizes the storms of life – illness, loss, and despair – that leave us adrift and isolated. Like a ship battered by a tempest, the lepers cry out to Jesus for help, acknowledging their need for guidance and a safe harbor. The unexpected healing represents a shift in the winds, a time of grace where the ship is miraculously restored. However, nine lepers, like sailors lost in the euphoria of escape, forget to return and express gratitude. The Samaritan leper, in contrast, returns to express his thanks, symbolizing a life lived in gratitude, a ship navigating its course with a grateful heart and a renewed sense of purpose.
We are excited to learn about life this Sunday. See you then!
